FAQ

  • What can I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit will be longer (40-60 minutes), as we'll be doing a full exam. You’ll discuss your health history and the specific issues that brought you in. This is followed by a thorough physical examination, which may include orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic tests to evaluate your spine and musculoskeletal system. Based on the findings, our doctors will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. This may include spinal adjustments, therapeutic exercises, and other modalities to help alleviate pain, improve function, and promote overall wellness. At Johnson Chiropractic, we employ a patient-centered approach, ensuring that all your questions and concerns are addressed to make your chiropractic experience both comfortable and effective.
  • Will I get an adjustment during my first visit?
Maybe! If their condition is one well-suited to adjustment, patients may receive treatment and/or an adjustment soon after the doctor is finished with their exam. As a part of their extensive education, our doctors are trained to identify patients who have special risk factors or conditions that need further evaluation or other treatment altogether. As indicated by the exam, some patients are referred to have imaging (X-Ray, MRI, etc.) done before treatment begins. Other cases may be best served by a referral for other medical care. We will do our best to get you where you need to be.
  • What is a chiropractic adjustment? Do they hurt?
A chiropractic adjustment is a hands-on technique used by chiropractors to improve joint motion—especially in the spine. Using their hands or a specialized tool, the chiropractor applies a precise force to help restore mobility, reduce inflammation, and ease pain. Adjustments are safe, tailored to each individual, and rarely uncomfortable. Many people feel relief or improved movement shortly after treatment. Adjustment (or manipulation) of a joint may result in the release of a gas bubble between the joints, which makes a popping sound. The same thing occurs when you “crack” your knuckles. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released. Reference: American Chiropractic Association. (n.d.). • Do I need to get X-rays first?
It's possible. The majority of patients don't have conditions requiring X-rays or other imaging before beginning treatment. In some cases our doctors may refer you for imaging before getting started. If you have had imaging of any type done already, please bring it in with you!
  • What ages do you work with?
We care for patients of any age, including newborns. We're well-versed in working with promoting the wellness of our patients from birth and early development through the golden years. Whether you're looking to stay well, or are dealing with one of the conditions, pains, and issues that can happen, we've got your back.
  • Do you have a restroom?
Our restroom is shared with the other offices on the second floor of the building. Just ask our front desk for the key!
  • Johnson Chiro is on the second floor of the building, do you have an elevator?
Yes! Once you walk into the building, look for the elevator to your right, past the staircase. We're located in Suite 200.
  • Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Absolutely! We understand that you may have someone accompany you—whether it's a child, spouse, friend, or caregiver. They're welcome to join you in the treatment room or wait comfortably in our reception area.
  • Can I use my insurance at your clinic?
Yes! Many health insurance plans cover chiropractic care, including most major medical policies, workers’ compensation, Medicare, certain Medicaid programs, and federal employee plans like Blue Cross Blue Shield. We are in-network with most major insurance companies. If you'd like to verify our network status, please give us a call. Note on Medicaid, Medical Assistance, and Minnesota Care: We are disappointed to share that starting on January 1st, 2026, Minnesota legislators have decided to eliminate coverage for chiropractic care for those holding Medicaid, Medical Assistance, or Minnesota Care health plans. If this affects you, we are saddened by the far reaching effects of cutting this valuable benefit. Our services are still open to you as a self-pay option. Please give us a call if you would like to discuss this option.
  • How does billing through insurance work?
If you plan to use insurance, we will collect any copays due at the time of your appointment (unless you have a deductible only plan) and send the bill for your visit to your insurance. Once your health insurance company has paid their portion of the bill, we'll send you a statement for any amount still due after coverage. Statements from our clinic are sent monthly via email around the middle of the month. The email will include a PDF and a link to pay online. We're happy to send these bills by text or paper mail if you need! Sometimes certain services aren't covered by insurance or you may be choosing not to use insurance. In these cases you'll self-pay for the service(s) on the day you have the service done at the end of your visit.
  • What if I don't have insurance?
No insurance or choosing not to use it? No problem. We offer affordable self-pay (cash) rates for all of our services. There's no need to purchase a package or commit to a full treatment plan upfront. We believe in transparent pricing and flexible care, so you only pay for what you need, when you need it. If you're comparing providers, feel free to call us for our current rates and any other questions about our services.
  • What is your missed appointment/no show policy?
Chiropractic and acupuncture appointments are expected to be kept by our patients. If you cannot make your appointment, we ask that you call us to let us know and reschedule. This provides us the opportunity to offer that time slot to other patients who would like to schedule at that time. No shows starting with the second missed appointment for chiropractic and acupuncture appointments will be charged the full self-pay rate for the appointment.
